5HP Seafood Chiller: DL-E050R2F-AA (14.5 kW) — Sizing for Large Live-Seafood Tanks
Outgrowing a 1–3.5HP unit? The Delin DL-E050R2F-AA 5HP dual-fan seafood chiller delivers 14.5 kW and holds up to 8,000 L. Here are the full specs and the tank-volume table.
When a live-seafood operation outgrows a 1–3.5 HP chiller, the next step is the 5 HP class — and Delin's answer is the DL-E050R2F-AA, a dual-fan constant-temperature unit that delivers 14.5 kW of cooling. This guide covers its full specifications and, most importantly, how much water it can actually hold at the temperatures you need.

How Much Water Can a 5HP Unit Hold?
The table below is the sizing data we give customers. It lists the maximum water volume the unit can hold at three target temperatures, assuming an aquarium room up to 30 °C and unit ambient air up to 40 °C:
| Target water temperature | Maximum water volume |
|---|---|
| 5 °C | 2,200 L |
| 10 °C | 5,000 L |
| 20 °C | 8,000 L |
The figures above assume an aquarium room at 30 °C or below and unit ambient air at 40 °C or below. In a hotter room the same machine holds less water — tell us your conditions and we will size for them.
Why Two Fans (and a Taller Cabinet)
The 5 HP unit is a different animal from the 1–3.5 HP models. Where the smaller units use a single condenser fan, the DL-E050R2F-AA runs two fans and stands 1,325 mm tall — about half a metre taller than the 2–3.5 HP cabinet (898 × 375 × 823 mm).
That extra height and airflow is the point: rejecting 14.5 kW of heat into a warm room takes more condenser surface and more air movement. If you see a "5 HP" machine that is short, single-fan, or barely larger than a 3 HP unit, treat it with suspicion — see the section below on verifying a real 5 HP.

5HP Means Three-Phase Power
At 14.5 kW, a single-phase supply is not a sensible option. The DL-E050R2F-AA runs on 380 V / 50 Hz three-phase as standard, with a 220 V / 60 Hz three-phase variant available for 60 Hz markets.
Three-phase power keeps the running current low, avoids heavy inrush on compressor start, and lets you use standard commercial wiring. If you need the full reasoning, read our guide on single-phase vs. three-phase power for seawater chillers.
When to Move Up from 1–3.5HP to 5HP
The short version: if your tank sits within the 1–3.5 HP range, stay there — the smaller units are cheaper to buy and run. Use the 5 HP when:
- Your tank holds more than 5,000 L at a 10 °C target, or more than 2,200 L at a 5 °C target.
- You need headroom for heat waves, direct sunlight, or a warm kitchen/back-of-house.
- You are running multiple tanks or a busy restaurant/market with high water turnover.

Make Sure Your 5HP Is a Real 5HP
A genuine 5 HP chiller like the DL-E050R2F-AA delivers about 14.5 kW, sits in a cabinet roughly 1.3 m tall, and uses two condenser fans. We have seen units sold as "5 HP" that are really 3 HP machines in disguise — smaller cabinet, single fan, lower cooling capacity. Before you buy, run the checks in our guide on how to identify a fake 5HP water chiller.
Built for Live Seafood
Like every Delin seafood chiller, the DL-E050R2F-AA is engineered for holding live fish and shellfish:
- Pure Grade 2 titanium heat exchanger — resists seawater corrosion and never leaches metal into the water.
- ±0.5 °C control accuracy — holds the narrow band that keeps stock healthy.
- Copeland / Emerson / Panasonic compressors — low-maintenance, long-duty refrigeration cores.
- Anti-corrosion casing — built for the humid, salt-laden air around live tanks.
Bring Your Numbers — We'll Confirm the Model
To confirm the DL-E050R2F-AA is right for your site, send us three numbers:
- Your tank volume (litres or gallons).
- Your target water temperature (°C).
- Your available power supply (voltage, single- or three-phase, 50 or 60 Hz).
