Inside Our Workshop: How Delin Manufactures Titanium Evaporators
A behind-the-scenes look at how Delin builds pure titanium (TA1/TA2) evaporators and heat exchangers in our own workshop — from coil forming and TIG welding to pressure testing and inspection, and why real in-house manufacturing matters when you source from China.
When you buy a titanium evaporator from China, one question dominates every sourcing decision: who actually makes it? The market is full of trading companies that resell parts made by someone else. A genuine in-house manufacturer can show you the workshop floor, the welding torches, and the pressure-test bench. That transparency is the single biggest risk-reducer in industrial sourcing — and it's exactly what this article shows.
What We Make: Titanium Evaporators (Coils & Barrels)
A titanium evaporator is the heat-exchange core of a chiller or heat pump that works directly against seawater, brine, or chemically aggressive water. Instead of a copper coil that would corrode and contaminate the process stream, the wetted side is built entirely from pure titanium.
At Delin we manufacture these components in our own workshop, from pure titanium tube to finished, pressure-tested evaporator. The same production line serves our own seafood machines, pool chillers, and heat pumps — and makes OEM parts for other brands.
Why Pure Titanium? TA1 / TA2
The two grades we use most — TA1 (Grade 1) and TA2 (Grade 2) — are pure, unalloyed titanium:
- Zero corrosion in seawater and brine. Pure titanium forms a self-healing oxide film that holds up in chlorides, chlorine, and most industrial chemicals.
- Excellent heat transfer. Titanium's thermal conductivity is lower than copper, but its corrosion resistance lets you run thin-wall, high-surface coils that more than compensate — and it lasts decades where copper fails in months.
- Lightweight and durable. The coil adds little weight to the machine, and the tube wall can be kept thin and efficient.
- Safe for food-contact water. No copper dissolution means no contamination of potable or product water.
How It's Built: From Tube to Finished Evaporator
Our manufacturing process follows a fixed sequence, every unit built and checked to the same standard:
- Tube preparation. Pure titanium tube, Φ9.52mm – Φ19.05mm, sourced to material certificate (TA1/TA2).
- Coil forming. The tube is bent and wound to the required coil diameter, length, and tube count. Geometry is customisable per application.
- TIG welding. TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding produces clean, leak-proof joints between tube and fittings — the step that defines reliability.
- Connection fitting. Thread, flange, or copper flare connection, depending on how the unit mates with the machine.
- Pressure testing. Every unit is pressurised to its design pressure — ≤ 1.0MPa standard, custom up to 1.6MPa — and checked for leakage.
- Inspection & packing. Final dimension and weld inspection under our ISO 9001 quality system, then protective packing for export.

Two numbers in that table deserve emphasis. 1.0MPa design pressure means the coil is built to handle real refrigeration system pressures comfortably, not merely aquarium-duty tubing. And –20 °C to +120 °C means the same component works on the chilled side of a seafood machine and the hot side of a heat pump water heater.
Built to Your Specification (OEM)
Because we manufacture in-house, customisation is routine rather than a premium service:
- Coil diameter, length, and tube count adjusted to your machine's footprint.
- Connection type matched to your piping (thread, flange, copper flare).
- Higher pressure rating (up to 1.6MPa) for demanding systems.
- Batch OEM production under your brand or as a component for your own chiller build.
If you're assembling your own machines, you buy directly from the maker — no trading-company margin, and full traceability on material and test records.
Where Titanium Evaporators Are Used
- Seafood constant temperature machines — shrimp hatcheries, fish farms, and processing lines in saltwater environments.
- Heat pump water heaters — where the source water is aggressive or chlorinated.
- Swimming pool heat exchangers — the standard upgrade over copper in chlorinated pools.
